Quoted From A Fellow Traveler:

Life is short, Break the rules, Forgive quickly, Kiss slowly, Love truly, Laugh uncontrollably, And never regret anything that made you smile. Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we're here we should dance.

BBQ Cook-off In Artesia, NM

Stepped out the door this morning to enjoy my coffee in the warm sun and the neighbor had a guest on his hood. Funny seeing a Roadrunner up on a car.

Twenty five miles away in the oil own of Artesia, they were having a BBQ cook-off to benefit Habitat for Humanity.

As we came into town there area numerous bronze sculptures so we had to check them out. The first one is dedication to the workers of the gas and oil industry in New Mexico.

The Derrick Floor Sculpture

The local Gas and Oil business started with these two guys.

Here they are leaning on the hood of a Ford truck.

More shots of the Derrick.

Info. on the sculpture articles. Click on any picture to read.

A lot of bronze was used in this and the other sculptures.

The detail is so realistic.

A description of the works.

The individuals were cast larger than normal size.

Then there were three people that also contributed to the local industry.

And the first commercial oil well in New Mexico.

That's Mary pointing to where they should drill #3.

And there was the "First Lady of Artesia", Sallie Chisum.

Info about Sallie

The sculpture

Was Billy her boy friend?

The Next sculpture is one of three sculptures known as the "Cattle Drive".

Pardon the silhouette of my camera, the sun was behind me. This info pertains to the next sculpture.

Looks like Billy the Kid.

The last of the Cattle Drive sculptures.

They put this beautiful sculpture in front of a gas station!!!!!

Ranchers brands.

Another shot of the last sculpture. What detail!!!!

Anyways.......we did make it to the BBQ, MMMMMM

The cooks all contributed their food for donations for Habitat.
