Quoted From A Fellow Traveler:

Life is short, Break the rules, Forgive quickly, Kiss slowly, Love truly, Laugh uncontrollably, And never regret anything that made you smile. Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we're here we should dance.

Padre Island National Seashore

Padre Island National Seashore is a great place to go to get away from it all.
There is a huge informative visitors center.
Then there are the beaches
Beaches that you can drive on
Beaches that you can camp on
But watch out for the Jelly fish, the beach was loaded with them.
The beach goes on----
and on, for 60 miles
Pelican fly over in formation
Found one historic area
Round up time.
The long road out of the Park
Then you can stop at the drive thru in the first town.

USS Lexington

We can see the USS Lexington from the campground, so we had to do the tour. The Lexington CV16 was built by the Bethlehem Steel Co. of Quincy, Massachusetts and has a long history of action.

The Blue Ghost

The Flight Deck

The tour was setup into five categories that were self guided. It took us over three hours to complete the tour and I was so interested that I forgot to take pictures of most of the exhibits..
I have an interest in WWII planes and the Radial engines, I'm amazed at what they were capable of engineering back in the 1930's.

This is a cutaway of an actual radial engine.

Mustang Island

On our drive to Mustang Island, we had to take a Ferry for a short distance. here we are waiting in line to get on the ferry.

What's nice, is you can just drive onto the beach. We did see one Motorhome that was parked on the beach
Will driving across the island, we kept driving past these pastel colored homes so we just had to stop and check them out. Kind of reminded us of the homes in the movie Edward Scissorhands.
There were yellow's, pink's, blue's, and green's.
The homes were really cute.

Corpus Christi

We are about one hour away from our destination, Corpus Christi. It was lunchtime so we pull into the highschool parking lot in a small town that had a "Whataburger" right across the street. We never ate there so we had to try it out.
Mmmm WHATABURGER, they were good!
We made it to Corpus Christi and we are parked at Puerto Del Sol Campground. This campground had received high ratings but we found the place to be a lot less than what we expected. Hurricane Ike trashed the place and they still haven't cleaned it up. As you can see below, we do have a nice site right on the water. It's 4:30 PM and it's 70 degrees but the wind is blowing in from the Gulf and it's cool and damp. The sky is clear and it is suppose to warm up more tomorrow.
Joyce took this picture from the front seat of the Coach at our site.

That bridge goes to Padre Island and we will venture there tomorrow.
