Quoted From A Fellow Traveler:

Life is short, Break the rules, Forgive quickly, Kiss slowly, Love truly, Laugh uncontrollably, And never regret anything that made you smile. Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we're here we should dance.

Happy Mothers Day from Canyonlands

Canyonlands National Park can be entered from different sections. We came in to the section called Island in the Sky where the park is mainly viewed from the top or the Mesa. There are some nice pull-offs for viewing the canyon but we wanted to get up close and personal.

We found a road (Shafer Trail) that would take us into the canyon. This road is one lane wide and carved out of the rock. There were no guard rails, and the drop-offs would mean the end if you messed-up. There were a few areas where you could hug an edge for oncoming traffic. A Jeep or 4-wheel drive vehicle with high ground clearance is a must because the road is NOT maintained, and there were some large rocks that had to be driven over.

The road can be seen as viewed from the top of the Mesa

More of the road as it meanders along below.

This is at the start of the road from the top of the Mesa

Here we go!
